Sailing Along, Unaware

As we sailed tonight on our rented cat,
'cross wakes and tides and all of that,
I gave no thought to any dying,
easily done not a bit of trying.

We watched the setting sun,
Breezing along, cool as could be.
Joy, sails, and friends as one,
But his absence didn't touch me.

Arriving home, a mix of blessing
A friend lost long ago, now passed.
Another sends a note addressing
Connecting now, not in the past.
